How Academl handles your data
We collect what the platform needs to teach you, save your progress and issue certificates. Questions and requests go to info@academl.com.

What we collect
- Account: name, email and a hashed password, or your Google name, email and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
- Learning: course progress, quiz attempts, notes, favourites, badges and certificates.
- Practical assignments you submit for AI review, and the feedback returned.
- Comments and questions you post under lessons. Other learners can see them.
- Subscription status when you buy Pro; card details stay with Stripe and never reach our servers.
- Messages you send through contact and bug-report forms.
- Site statistics through Google Analytics 4, and an anonymous visitor cookie (aa_vid) used to compare page variants.
Why we use it
- To run your account, save progress and issue certificates.
- To review assignments and answer questions in the AI tutor.
- To send account emails: welcome, password reset, receipts, certificates and learning reminders.
- To fix bugs and understand which pages and courses help learners.
What others can see
- A certificate page shows your name, the course and the date to anyone with its link or code. That is how employers verify it.
- Your name appears on the leaderboard only if you turn it on.
- In a team workspace, members see the names and emails of the other members of that team.
Services that process data
- Hosting of the website: our server in the eastern United States.
- Database: a dedicated server rented from Contabo.
- AI tutor and assignment review: Ollama Cloud receives the text of your question or assignment together with the lesson context.
- Email: Resend.
- Payments: Stripe.
- Sign-in with Google and Google Analytics 4: Google.
Your choices
- Write to us to correct your name or email, get a copy of your data or delete your account with its progress, notes, comments and certificates.
- Cancel a subscription at any time through the Stripe customer portal.
